ReviseOnline Pty Ltd (ReviseOnline, we, us or our) is committed to protecting personal information and handling it in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs), and other applicable Australian privacy requirements.

Who this policy applies to

This policy applies to users of ReviseOnline websites, applications and services, including students, teachers, school administrators, parents or guardians where relevant, individual purchasers, and institutional customers.

Information we collect

• Account information, such as name, email address, school or organisation, role, year level and account identifiers.
• Learning and study activity, such as subjects, classes, sessions, answers, assessment activity, scores, goals and progress records.
• Payment and billing information required to process purchases. Payment card details are processed by our payment provider and ReviseOnline does not need to store full card numbers.
• Technical and security information, such as IP address, browser, operating system, device information, timestamps, authentication and security logs.
• Support and correspondence information when you contact us, report an issue or communicate with our team.
• Information supplied by a school or other authorised organisation for onboarding, class membership, licensing or account administration.

We do not intentionally request biometric information, health information or other sensitive personal information from students as part of ordinary platform use. Users may nevertheless include personal or sensitive information in free-text content or support requests, and we handle such information in accordance with this policy and applicable law.

How we collect information

We collect information directly from users, from schools or institutions that are authorised to provision or manage accounts, and from service providers used to operate the Platform. Where lawful and practical, users may interact with some public parts of our services without identifying themselves, although an account is required for most educational functionality.

Why we use personal information

• Provide, operate, secure and improve the ReviseOnline Platform.
• Create and authenticate accounts and manage access, licences, classes and school relationships.
• Deliver assessments, study tools, learning history, feedback, reporting and analytics.
• Provide teachers and authorised school staff with appropriate class-level or school-level information.
• Process purchases, subscriptions, invoices and refunds.
• Send service, security and transactional communications.
• Respond to support, privacy and safety requests.
• Detect misuse, investigate security incidents and maintain audit records.
• Meet legal, regulatory and contractual obligations.
• Use de-identified or aggregated information to understand product use, improve educational services and produce non-identifying statistics or benchmarking.

ReviseOnline does not sell personal information or use student personal information for third-party advertising.

Students and young people

ReviseOnline is designed primarily for senior secondary students, many of whom are under 18. We seek to use clear, age-appropriate privacy practices and collect only information reasonably necessary to provide and protect the service. Where a user does not have legal or practical capacity to make a privacy decision, ReviseOnline may require the involvement of a parent, guardian, school or other authorised representative as appropriate. School-managed accounts operate under the relevant arrangements between ReviseOnline and the school or institution.

Automated processing and artificial intelligence

Some ReviseOnline features may use automated systems or artificial intelligence to support marking, feedback, content assistance, analytics or educational insights. These features are intended to assist learning and professional judgement. Automated outputs do not determine a user's legal rights or entitlements. Where automated processing materially affects a user experience, appropriate human oversight and review processes may be applied.

Disclosure and service providers

We may disclose personal information to trusted service providers where reasonably necessary to operate the Platform. These providers are expected to handle information under appropriate privacy, confidentiality and security obligations.

We may also disclose information to a school or institution that administers the relevant account, to professional advisers or auditors under confidentiality obligations, or to government, regulatory or law-enforcement bodies where authorised or required by law.

Overseas processing and data location

ReviseOnline seeks to keep primary application data in Australia where practicable. Some service providers may process limited personal information in other countries. Where personal information is disclosed or made available overseas, ReviseOnline takes reasonable steps required by applicable Australian privacy law to protect that information and to understand the provider's handling practices.

Security

We use administrative, technical and organisational safeguards designed to protect personal information against misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. These measures include controlled access, authentication, secure communications, system monitoring and other security controls appropriate to the Platform and the information involved.

Retention and deletion

We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, maintain educational or account records, meet legal and contractual requirements, resolve disputes, prevent fraud or security incidents, and support legitimate business operations. When personal information is no longer required, we take reasonable steps to delete, destroy or de-identify it, subject to applicable retention requirements.

Access, correction, deletion and portability

You may ask us to provide access to personal information we hold about you, correct inaccurate or incomplete information, or consider a request to delete information that is no longer required. We may need to verify identity or authority before acting on a request. Some information may need to be retained where required or permitted by law, contract, security, record-keeping or dispute-resolution obligations. Where an export tool is available in the Platform, users may also use that tool to obtain their account information.

ReviseOnline uses cookies and similar browser technologies as described in our Cookie Policy. We do not use student personal information for targeted advertising.

Data breaches

ReviseOnline maintains processes for responding to suspected or confirmed data breaches. Where the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme or another applicable law requires notification, we will take the required assessment, containment and notification steps.

Privacy complaints

If you have a privacy concern or complaint, contact us first so that we can investigate and respond. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).

Changes to this policy
