Who uses ReviseOnline
ReviseOnline is built for senior secondary students — typically Year 11 and Year 12, aged 15–18 — their teachers, and school administrators. Because our audience often includes minors, we take online safety seriously and align our practices with Australian frameworks for child-safe digital services.
What we collect from minors
We collect only what is needed to run the platform: name, email, school (if provided), year level, and study activity. We do not collect home addresses, phone numbers, photos, biometric data, or sensitive personal information from students. Full details can be found in our privacy policy here: Privacy policy
Community-feature safeguards
- Class-bounded discussion. Student-to-student messaging is scoped to a class or study group, not open to the whole platform.
- Teacher visibility. Teachers in a class can see and moderate posts in that class.
- Reporting. Every post and comment has an in-app report button. Reports route to a moderator queue.
- No DMs to strangers. Direct messaging is restricted to people in your class or study group.
- Acceptable use rules. Clear behavioural standards are defined in our acceptable use policy and can be viewed here: Acceptable Use Policy
Data protection commitments
- Data hosted in Australia. The primary database is in AWS Sydney (ap-southeast-2).
- Encryption in transit and at rest. TLS 1.2+ for all connections; database storage and backups encrypted with AES-256.
- Access controls. Role-based access for staff; student data is only visible to teachers and admins linked to that student's class or school.
- No advertising. Student data is never used for advertising or sold to any third party.
- Audit logs. Sensitive admin actions are logged, with retention periods set to support security monitoring and incident investigation.
- Right to erasure. Students or their parents can request account deletion at any time via support@reviseonline.com or directly from the My Account page.
