ReviseOnline Pty Ltd is committed to making the ReviseOnline platform usable by every Australian student and teacher, including people with disability. We are working towards the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. We have not completed a formal conformance evaluation, so this statement describes the accessibility work we do today rather than a certified level of conformance.
Standards we align to
- WCAG 2.2 Level AA — the international standard for accessible web content, and the level we are working towards across the platform.
- Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (Cth) — we provide our service on equal terms to people with disability, consistent with the Australian Human Rights Commission guidance on the Act and on Advisory Note 2014 for accessible web content.
- Australian Government Digital Service Standard — we have regard to the Standard's accessibility and inclusion criterion when designing public-facing pages and procurement flows for schools and government buyers.
What we do
- Automated WCAG 2.1 Level AA checks on every change. Our build pipeline runs axe-core against the public site, the sign-in flow, and the student and teacher dashboards, in both light and dark themes. A change that introduces a violation does not ship.
- Semantic HTML5 markup with ARIA only where native semantics are insufficient.
- Keyboard navigation for interactive controls, with a skip-to-content link on the public site and sign-in pages.
- Visible focus states on interactive elements.
- Body and UI text checked for a 4.5:1 contrast ratio over its background on the surfaces covered by the automated check above.
- Labelled form inputs, with error messaging presented in text and not by colour alone.
- Captioned video where we publish it; transcripts available on request.
Known limitations
Accessibility is a continuous practice, not a checkbox. Some parts of the product still have known limitations — we are tracking each of these and welcome reports of anything we have missed at support@reviseonline.com:
- We do not yet run a routine assistive-technology testing programme. Automated checks cannot detect every barrier, and we have not established regular screen-reader, magnification or voice-control testing. This is work we intend to take on.
- No independent audit has been commissioned. We cannot currently supply a third-party conformance report.
- The automated check has a defined scope. It covers WCAG 2.1 Level AA against a set list of pages. Surfaces outside that list — including the admin panel and less-travelled dashboard routes — are not yet gated.
- User-uploaded images may not include descriptive alt text. Where the uploader has not provided a description, the image is exposed as decorative to assistive technology. We are working with teachers to add an alt-text prompt at upload time.
- Some legacy assessment items may not yet have keyboard-equivalent interactions for every drag-and-drop variant. Replacement items are rolling out term-by-term.
- Third-party integrations (Stripe checkout, Learnosity question players) are governed by the vendor's own accessibility conformance — we link to their statements where we use them.
- PDF exports are tagged for screen readers, but complex tables and mathematical notation may still need manual review for the highest fidelity.
